Blood Grouping

"Every person's blood belongs to one of the four ABO groups. Blood types are named according to antigens present on RBC membranes "

There are four types of ABO blood

Plasma never made the antibody against its own RBC .If the doner blood is not matched with the recipient it lead to lysis of donated RBc after donation  Or granulated cell block the capilaries or damage the kidneys. This can lead to death.

The ABO System

1.Type A-Antigen A present on Red blood cells
2.Type B -Antigen B present on Red blood cells
3.Type AB-Antigen A Or Antigen B both are present on Red blood cells
4Neighter Antigen A Or Antigen B both are present on Red blood cells

Blood group AB is universal recipient or take blood from A, B or O.
Blood group O is universal donor  or give blood to A ,B,O or take blood only from O .

The Rhesus (Rh) System

The word Rh derived from the use of the blood of Rhesus monkey ie in basic tests for determining  the presence of Rh Antigen in the human blood The Rhesus blood group was discovered in 1940 by  karl landslides and A. S. Weiner .

The Rh blood means Rh antigen present on RBCs.
People who has Rh antigen is called Rh positive or people who has not Rh antigen is called Rh negative.
Further types of Rhesus blood groups is C, c, D, E, e etc.
